Deliberations on Transforming SGRR Schools into ‘Centres of Excellence’

With the objective of transforming schools beyond mere examination-oriented institutions into centres of excellence, innovation, and human values in the rapidly evolving global educational landscape, the Annual Principals’ Conclave of SGRR Public Schools, organized by Shri Guru Ram Rai Education Mission, witnessed extensive deliberations on various dimensions of education. Held under the theme “SGRR Schools: Centres of Excellence – Quality Inclusive Education and Sustainable Development,” the conclave brought together eminent educationists who shared their insights on academic excellence, effective leadership, innovation, institutional development, and strategies for ensuring quality education in schools.

The conclave, held at the auditorium of Shri Guru Ram Rai University, Patel Nagar, was inaugurated by the Chief Guest, Mr. S.C. Dobhal, President, SGRR Education Mission, who lit the ceremonial lamp and paid floral tribute to the portrait of Param Pujya Brahmaleen Shri Mahant Indiresh Charan Das Ji Maharaj. More than 100 Principals from SGRR Public Schools located in Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Delhi, and other states participated in the event. A Saraswati Vandana presented by the students of SGRR Public School, Patel Nagar, added grace and solemnity to the inaugural ceremony. Delivering the welcome address, Mr. Vijay Nautiyal, Authorized Signatory and Manager, congratulated the students and Principals for their outstanding performance in the CBSE Board Examinations and emphasized that quality education remains the highest priority of the Mission.

Addressing the gathering, Chief Guest Mr. S.C. Dobhal, President, SGRR Education Mission, stated that the visionary leadership and able guidance of the Mission’s Chairman, Shri Mahant Devendra Das Ji Maharaj, have earned SGRR educational institutions a distinguished identity in the field of excellence. He remarked that Principals are the focal point of every school’s progress, and their effective leadership, administrative competence, and academic vision are instrumental in leading institutions towards excellence.

Mr. Vinay Mohan Thapliyal, Education Officer, SGRR Education Mission, elaborated on the concept of a ‘Centre of Excellence’, stating that an outstanding school is one that continuously progresses through a balanced integration of quality teaching, effective leadership, modern infrastructure, trained faculty, innovation, and a student-centric environment. He stressed the need to establish a robust quality assurance system in schools.

Sharing the best practices adopted at her institution, Mrs. Kavita Singh, Principal, SGRR Public School, Patel Nagar, said that innovation-driven teaching methodologies, continuous assessment, active parental participation, and a strong focus on the holistic development of students are the key elements that distinguish an excellent school.

Presenting an analysis of the CBSE Board Examination results, Mr. G.S. Tomar, Education Officer, SGRR Education Mission, observed that outstanding academic outcomes are not achieved merely through examination preparation but through a well-planned academic strategy, regular assessments, subject-wise analysis, and individualized mentoring throughout the academic year. He also shared several practical suggestions for further improving academic performance.

Delivering an inspiring lecture on the theme “Every Child Can Learn,” Dr. R.P. Singh, Education Officer, emphasized that every student possesses the ability to learn. The need, he said, is to understand each learner’s unique learning style, provide a positive learning environment, and adopt motivational teaching methodologies. He described inclusive education as one of the most significant educational priorities of the present time.

Interacting with the Principals, Prof. (Dr.) K. Pratapan, Vice-Chancellor of Shri Guru Ram Rai University, emphasized that schools must integrate research-based education, digital technology, innovation, and ethical values to remain relevant in changing times. He also advocated strengthening academic collaboration between schools and universities.

Mrs. Pratibha Atri, Principal, SGRR Public School, Race Course, remarked that value-based education forms the foundation of an excellent society. She emphasized that developing discipline, sensitivity, social responsibility, leadership qualities, and moral character among students should remain the primary objective of school education.

Speaking on administrative matters, Mr. Naveen Sanyal, Assistant Accounts Officer, SGRR Education Mission, highlighted the importance of financial transparency, effective accounting systems, ESIC, EPF, and statutory compliance in schools. He stated that a strong administrative framework provides the foundation for a high-quality education system.

During the conclave, Education Officers and Principals from various schools held detailed discussions on the geographical realities of Uttarakhand’s hilly regions and urban schools, local challenges, and effective educational models. This was followed by separate technical sessions in which Education Officers and representatives from the Accounts Department of SGRR schools across different states deliberated extensively on academic and administrative issues. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Mrs. Beena Rawat, Authorized Signatory. Several senior officials of the SGRR Education Mission and distinguished guests were also present on the occasion.
