A divine confluence of devotion was witnessed on Thursday night at the ancient Siddh Peeth Maa Ambika Devi Temple, nestled in the silent valleys of Rajpur. The temple is managed by Shri Guru Ram Rai Ji Maharaj, Shri Jhanda Sahib Darbar.
On the sacred occasion of Navratri, a grand jagar sandhya was organized where folk singer Manglesh Dangwal created an enchanting spiritual atmosphere with the rhythmic beats of dhol-damau, turning the entire valley devotional. Hymns in praise of Maa Bhagwati, emotional depictions of Nanda Raj Jaat, and glorification of the nine forms of the Goddess deeply moved the devotees.
The all-night celebration witnessed an overwhelming turnout of faith, reflecting that the spiritual devotion of Devbhoomi remains as strong and vibrant as ever. Thousands of devotees participated in the jagran and bhandara, earning spiritual merit.
On this occasion, the Hon’ble Chairman of Shri Guru Ram Rai University and patron of the temple, Shri Mahant Devendra Das Ji Maharaj, extended heartfelt greetings and best wishes on the occasion of Ram Navami to the people of the state and the country.
The program was inaugurated jointly by Agriculture Minister Ganesh Joshi, Cabinet Minister Khajan Das, Minister of State Pratap Panwar, and BJP Yuva Morcha National Vice President Neha Joshi by lighting the ceremonial lamp.
Agriculture Minister Ganesh Joshi said, “It is only by the grace of Maa Bhagwati that we have received this auspicious opportunity. Navratri is a festival of self-purification and devotion to Shakti. May Maa Ambika bless all devotees with happiness, prosperity, and strength.”
Cabinet Minister Khajan Das said, “The tradition of jagar is an invaluable heritage of our faith and culture. The chants of Maa have filled this land with purity and energy. May Maa’s blessings remain with everyone.”
Minister of State Pratap Panwar said, “Remembering the various forms of the Goddess during Navratri gives us strength and courage. Through jagar, one experiences the divine presence of the Goddess. May Maa’s grace bring harmony and prosperity to society.”
Folk singer Manglesh Dangwal began the program with a hymn in praise of Maa Ganga, creating a devotional atmosphere. He then presented the famous Nanda Raj Jaat Yatra of Uttarakhand through his songs, which deeply moved the devotees. Jagar songs based on various forms of Maa Durga maintained a divine ambiance throughout the night.
Devotees danced enthusiastically to the beats of dhol-damau and offered their devotion at the feet of Maa. The entire valley resonated with chants of “Jai Mata Di” and Shri Guru Ram Rai Ji Maharaj.
In Uttarakhand’s folk culture, jagar is not just music but a medium of invoking deities and experiencing spirituality. Through these songs, local deities and divine energies are invoked, connecting devotees to a divine experience. This is why jagar sandhya holds special significance during festivals like Navratri.
